Hello there!

Now, I know for sure that I have five friendly people who read my witterings in this blog and I am very pleased about that. I also like to read what they have to say for themselves.

However now that I plan to be a lot more active in this blog I feel it is time to expand my reading list and my followers so I have a task for you.

Vintage/Wilderness Festival

Hi there,

As many of you will know, I have been working in my spare time as an Ambassador for this year's Vintage Festival. Due to take place at the beautiful Boughton House in Northamptonshire this weekend I had been looking forward to it (and panicking over what to wear) for quite some time now.

So it was with great dismay that I read a text from Clare of Miss Simmonds Says fame while I was away last week stating that Vintage 2012 had been cancelled.

"WHAT? CANCELLED?!" I yelped, a familiar sinking feeling in my stomach that can only be disappointment over something you're really truly looking forward to suddenly being snatched out from under your nose.

But then, another text message. All was not lost, Vintage 2012 have managed to get themselves a guest spot at another fabulous festival - that I had been considering attending anyway - called Wilderness. This will be taking place in Oxfordshire which is much nearer to my home, and in August which means we may (although I have my fingers crossed as I type this so as not to jinx it, which is no mean feat I tell you!!) have better weather and therefore I won't have to spend the entire weekend in waterproof clothing. Here's hoping, mackintoshes are not particularly glam and can be such a drag.

Now, if it is in fact possible I am even more excited that Vintage will be guesting at this years Wilderness Festival than I was about it's original incarnation. This is the festival that plays host to the Secret Garden Party which has a yearly theme - this year's is 'Rise of the Tribes'. I am rather hoping for a less murderous Lord Of The Flies experience, running and dancing with wild abandonment through the forest and dining by firelight.

There will also be Future Cinema - a dress up, live action experience of Bugsy Malone; a Lakeside Spa with treatments on offer and relaxed seating and lounging areas provided by Toast; theatre from the Petersham Playhouse; food by Yottam Ottolenghi, Fergus Henderson & St John and Valentine Warner amongst others and much much more!!

Have I sold it to you yet?

I know I'm impressed!!!!

I will be dancing to the Temper Trap and Rodrigo Y Gabriela and generally having a jolly old time. And with all the added excitement that Wayne Hemingway's team at Vintage can bring to the table too. What's not to love?

Roll on August I say, I'll be waiting with my bags packed!!!

Summer (?) jaunts and general busy-ness

Well hello there!

Sorry for my lack of posting and commenting recently, I went away for a few days (more to come on that in a separate post) and was then struck down with a particularly nasty stomach bug on the day I returned so the remainder of my week off has involved lying in bed, watching films, reading the paper, making incredibly good progress with the book I am reading (The Slap by Christos Tsolkias if anyone's interested) and I managed to summon the energy to venture out for my friend's birthday dinner on Saturday night, but sadly failed to eat all of my pizza - something which prompted much incredulity from my chums. I also managed to drag myself out to do some food shopping yesterday and baked a cake in the afternoon so it wasn't all bad.

Tonight I am off to the House of Commons with work for a debate on whether or not sexualised imagery in advertising needs to be controlled by statutory regulation. I am rather excited and will try to take some photos as I have never been inside the Houses of Parliament before!!

Insta-weekend

Hello!

So I've had a very quiet weekend, conserving energy and funds for my trip to Dorset and Cornwall at the end of the week.

Miss Simmonds and I went to a couple of local fetes on Saturday so I could dutifully do some flyering for Vintage Festival (only 18 days and counting now!!) and I had planned to attend a Classic Car show yesterday to flyer there as well but I felt rather unwell so sadly had to give it a miss.

I did however take some Instagram photos of Saturday's frolics:

Tonight I am off to a local bar for a 'boutique cinema' screening of Shutter Island where I hope to give out some more flyers for Vintage - I'll try and take some sneaky snaps if I can!!

Well hello there,

Recently I went to my local university's degree art show with my lovely friend Stephanie and I'd forgotten about all the photos we took until I looked on my iPod earlier so I thought I'd show you what we got up to there....

We had a super evening looking at all of the pieces on display, and all right on our doorstep so no need to traipse into London!!

Pre-pre Vintage 2012 excitement

So today I have been working very hard but I have also been getting incredibly excited about my trip to Vintage Festival 2012.

I will be sharing my tent (it's fairly palatial - I'm a glamper after all) with my darling friend Clare of Miss Simmonds Says fame and I cannot wait to doll up and get down to all the fantastic music, eat amazing food, see wonderful fashion, hair and beauty, design and art exhibits and generally just have a right old knees up.

With this in mind I have been scouring the internet for sartorial inspiration - as you're all aware summer has been a wash out (literally) so far this year so it is with trepidation that I will be packing my suitcase for Vintage. At the moment I am leaning towards era's that allow for plenty of layering and a certain amount of scruffiness. After all, perfect make up and elegantly coiffed hair doesn't have much longevity when faced with gale force winds and torrential rain. So I will be taking my influences from the 70's and 80's for their wearable, fluid and easily layered pieces - I hope this will enable me to stay warm and dry whilst looking uber glam.

I'm inspired so far by:

Now, I suppose Courtney Love and Nicole Richie are somewhat controversial choices but I love Courtney's take on the 70's Stevie Nicks look and although Nicole Richie can be considered somewhat bland and a bit of a clothes horse I do like her way of pulling together that lovely relaxed 70's hippy style, although personally I would clash colours and patterns more so as not to play it as 'safe'.

Anyway, I'll be out and about a lot over the weekend flyering for Vintage at various local events so I'll try to take photos and post them.

I'm also being whisked off to Cornwall for a long weekend next week so I'll be sure to write lots about that too!!

Staging a come back.

Hello there,

After a brief dalliance with Wordpress I am now using this blog again. This is in part due to the fact that I found Wordpress a bit fiddly and difficult to use. But secondly (and most importantly!) I missed all my blogging chums!!! People on Wordpress are not generally as friendly or keen to follow/comment on my ramblings, I am sorry that I left you guys and hope that you'll still be my friends!

So much has happened in my life recently, I'll do a proper update as soon as I have time but for now please see some photos of what I have been up to lately:
